New year, new you, right?
The new calendar year is a sigh of relief for many. It’s a time to wipe the slate clean. A do-over of sorts. The perfect moment to declare bon voyage to bad habits — like ingesting copious amounts of trash food, like I did — in the new year.
The struggle is real.
As I scrolled through my Twitter feed on New Year’s Day, sobering from being junk food wasted, I came across @NikeNYC‘s tweet that they’d be teaming up with actor/comedian Kevin Hart for their #MoveWithHart initiative — a free HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout at Skylite at Moynihan Station in New York City on January 2nd.
The ‘Move With Hart’ campaign is the latest partnership between Kevin Hart and Nike (they previously teamed up in 2015 to gather over 15,000 runners to #RunWithHart), which aspires to help people achieve their fitness goals and unleash their inner athlete.
I thought it was a fitting choice for Nike to select Kevin Hart to lead the charge to get people to live an active life. The ‘Ride Along 2’ star may play a funny guy on tv and the silver screen, but he’s extremely serious about working out and living a healthy lifestyle. His commitment to fitness can often be witnessed on Instagram, where he’s going full beast mode in his workout videos.
Before the 2-minute 9-station circuit training workout began, Kevin delivered an inspirational and aspirational message to the audience. He encouraged the crowd to be committed to training, and recognize that adopting healthy habits isn’t just a one day thing — there is a long-haul commitment involved in achieving fitness goals. To sweeten the pot even further, he brought out a few of his fit and famous friends like current WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky, and Nike Paralympian Blake Leeper, to cheer on the crowd.

By the end of the event, I was completely drenched in sweat, but feeling the best I’ve felt all year (yeah, that was a cheesy top of the new year joke). All jokes aside, I applaud both Nike NYC and Kevin Hart for giving people a launching point to unleash their inner champion.
Will you be another to #MoveWithHart this year?
